Shared Governance
The Professional Governance Councils (PGC) at the unit level at St. Mary’s serves as the voice for clinical staff to enhance staff satisfaction and promote accountability, ownership, and retention. The PGCs drive evidence-based practice (EBP) at the bedside and develop process improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and caregiver engagement. A PGC enriches clinical practice as it is interdisciplinary, representing healthcare professionals at all levels. The goal of the St. Mary’s Regional Hospital PGC is to: Foster excellence in patient care results in optimal outcomes through a commitment to professional development, research, and innovation. Promote structural empowerment through professional governance grounded in caring, collaborative relationships integrated throughout the patient care continuum. Review, revise, develop, and recommend clinical practice standards, policies, and procedures based on evidence and relationship centered principles of professional performance. Standardize and integrate practices throughout.
