After the baby is born
After the birth, we continue to closely care for you and your baby during the early postpartum period. Your baby receives a complete newborn exam at your side, and we share everything we observe with you in real time. Our team supports breastfeeding while also respecting your family’s need for bonding, rest, and privacy.
In many cases, a midwife or nurse visits your home one to two days after the birth to provide assessment and support. During this visit, we check in on your new family, talk about how you are feeling, assess how your baby is doing, and address any questions or special needs that may come up during this transition. We also review ongoing care for both parent and infant, discuss follow‑up appointments such as those with your baby’s pediatrician, and connect you with additional resources when helpful. You will return for a six‑week postpartum visit with a midwife, and we also offer events and support groups to help you feel confident and supported as you move forward.
Payment Options
Birth Center of Denver accepts the majority of insurance plans, including Kaiser Permanente, Medicaid, and most private insurance coverage. We do not accept TriCare. Giving birth here is typically less expensive than a vaginal hospital birth, which can be helpful for families with large deductibles or those who are self‑pay. We address financial questions or concerns before or during your initial prenatal visit.
Education classes and optional events or services are out‑of‑pocket expenses and are not billable to insurance. Payment options are available, however payment in full is required before the first class. For more information about insurance relationships or financial topics, please speak with a member of our staff.
