Conditions we treat
We specialize in diagnosing and treating complex pediatric colorectal conditions, including:
Birth differences in how the anus or rectum formed can affect bowel movements and stool control. These conditions vary in severity and often require specialized evaluation, surgery, and long‑term bowel management.
Persistent difficulty passing stool or having infrequent bowel movements that lasts for weeks or longer. Chronic constipation can cause pain, stool withholding, or bowel accidents and may require specialized testing and treatment.
A rare congenital condition in which the urinary, reproductive, and digestive tracts do not fully separate before birth. Care typically involves coordinated treatment from multiple pediatric specialists and may include staged surgical repair.
Involuntary leakage of stool, often related to long‑standing constipation and stool buildup. This condition can affect a child’s comfort, confidence, and daily activities and may improve with structured bowel management.
Difficulty controlling bowel movements, leading to accidental stool leakage. It may result from muscle, nerve, or structural problems and can be associated with congenital conditions, surgery, or spinal disorders.
Structural differences in pelvic organs that may affect bowel, bladder, or reproductive function. These conditions often require coordinated care across multiple pediatric specialties.
A condition present at birth where nerve cells are missing in part of the bowel, preventing stool from moving through normally. This often causes severe constipation or blockage and usually requires surgery and ongoing follow-up care.
A condition where part of the rectum slips outside the anus, often during bowel movements. It may cause discomfort, bleeding, or irritation and can require medical management or surgery depending on severity.
Narrowing of the rectum makes it difficult for stool to pass. This may be present at birth or develop after surgery or inflammation and can contribute to constipation or bowel obstruction.
Conditions involving the spine or lower back — such as spina bifida, spinal injury, or sacral tumors — that disrupt nerve signals controlling bowel function, leading to constipation or incontinence.
