Family 2 Family Mentor Program

About us

In 2018, the Family Advisory Council at Primary Children's Hospital recognized the critical need for peer support within the healthcare setting. This insight led to the creation of the Family 2 Family Mentorship Program, which connects families navigating complex medical situations with experienced mentors who have faced similar situations. By thoughtfully pairing families with shared health conditions and hospital experiences, the program provides a compassionate outlet for parents/guardians to express their concerns, fears, and frustrations with someone who truly understands their journey. Our mission is to cultivate a supportive community where every family feels empowered, understood, and uplifted by a network of experienced parent mentors.

How it works

The Family 2 Family Coordinator will manage requests received from staff or through self-referral, identifying a mentor with relevant experiences to connect with the family. Mentors may offer support though compassionate listening or exchanging stories. However, mentors are strictly prohibited from providing medical advice or guidance

Get connected

"Having someone to talk with is so important. Most of the time, parents just need to be listened to so they can feel seen and heard."
